Are you missing out on business because you are not taking advantage of some simple, effective and often free marketing opportunities?
When we compile a marketing audit or start to work with businesses, we often see the same simple and easy to implement basics overlooked and not done. The first thing we do is encourage the business to start with these simple steps. You may have heard or seen us refer to these as “easy wins”
At the risk of you accusing us of “teaching our Grandmother to suck eggs” these are our top 5 “easy wins”
Google My Business
Do you have a Google my Business listing? If you haven’t then you should set it up straight away.
If you already have a listing, is it complete and up to date?
1 Make sure information such as your opening hours and address are correct.
How recent are your reviews, or do you have any?
2 Ask your customers to leave you a review on Google.
Networking
Do you attend networking events? Do you have regular 1-1 meetings with people you meet?
If you attend regular meetings with the same members, identify people who you can form a strategic partnership with or who are likely to be your customer.
3 Arrange a 1-1 meeting with them to find out more about them and their business.
If you attend the more informal or one -off events it helps if you have an idea of who is a good contact to arrange a meeting with. An attendee list sent beforehand is always a bonus.
Social Media
Do you have a Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, Twitter or Instagram account but don’t use it? Decide where your customers or partners are likely to be and focus on that platform.
4 Plan some posts for the next month and stick to them.
If you are unsure of what to post, get some training or if you are short of time, ask someone to do it for you. (We can of course help you with this)
Directories
5 Take advantage of Free online directories and make sure you are listed, and your details are correct.
We would love to hear from you if after reading this you implement any or all of these tips. Use the comments to tell us what you tried and how it worked. Feel free to email us if you prefer. We would like to feature a success story in a future blog.
